Rev. Ambrozene Bennett Dolphy


Rev. Ambrozene Bennett Dolphy is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, and was recently ordained an Elder. 

She serves as a minister at Redeemer’s AME Zion Church in Plainville, Conn., where she is leading a ministerial initiative focused on the spiritual restoration of women and girls, and grassroots evangelical outreach. Rev. Dolphy accepted her call to ministry in 2015 at Archer Memorial AME Zion Church in Windsor, Conn., where she served on the ministerial staff , leading prayer and Bible-study groups and outreach ministry efforts in local nursing homes, neighborhoods and online.  

A respected businesswoman and licensed cosmetologist, Rev. Dolphy is the owner of Amber’s Beauty Salon in South Windsor, Conn. Since starting the full-service salon in 2004, Rev. Dolphy has ministered to hundreds of women and men who’ve sought spiritual comfort and guidance in the chairs of her welcoming, affirming and inspiring. 

Rev. Dolphy attended Hartford International University (formerly Hartford Seminary) in Hartford, Conn. and is a graduate of its Black Ministry’s Program. She is also a graduate of Handsworth College in Birmingham, England. 

A native of Jamaica, who immigrated to the United States in 2000, Rev. Dolphy makes her home with her husband in East Hartford, Conn. She is a proud mother of three beautiful daughters, one of whom lives at home and has special needs.
